DIRECTORS EDUCATION PROGRAM (DEP)

Recognizing the compelling need to provide Directors with ongoing education and training, the ICD, in partnership with the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, launched the Directors Education Program (DEP) in Toronto, in November 2003. The program is now offered through leading business schools in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver and Edmonton.

The DEP welcomes experienced and newly appointed directors with senior management or professional experience. Participants are drawn from a mix of backgrounds including public corporations, Crown and not-for-profit corporations, small to medium-sized enterprises, and the legal and accounting professions. The program is delivered in four three-day modules in cities across Canada. Modules are taught by leading faculty of prominent business schools, some of Canada’s most experienced directors, and leading governance experts.

GOVERNANCE ESSENTIALS PROGRAM (GEP)

For Directors of Non-for-Profit Organizations
Non-profit and voluntary sector organizations manage more than $112 billion in revenues. Every day, these organizations make decisions that significantly impact Canada’s economic, social and cultural well-being. There is a growing understanding that decisions made by all directors are felt far beyond boardroom walls, affecting individuals, corporations, and society. This innovative new program will provide learning on key accountabilities and responsibilities of not-for-profit leaders.

Governance Essentials will focus on the fundamental learning in core areas including the role of board members, conceptual thinking and communication, change management principles needed to build an effective board and ‘best practices’ for non-profit governance. This program is equally for directors and executive directors of small and large not-for-profits.

The Governance Essentials Program will be offered through the ICD Education Program Partner Universities across Canada in Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, Montreal, Ottawa and Vancouver.
